Using the GlucoAid Logbook
The GlucoAid Logbook includes several innovations to help people with diabetes monitor and control their condition. The carbohydrate and calorie columns, to be completed using the GlucoAid Wheel as reference, will help you follow the guidelines for suggested carbohydrate intake and, if weight loss is indicated, for suggested calorie intake. Ideally, no more than half of your daily calorie intake should be in the form of carbohydrates (or 45 to 75 g per meal, and 15 to 20 g per snack). The yellow boxes show the two times of the day when blood glucose levels should be checked (on alternating days: one day, before breakfast and dinner, and the next day, before lunch and bedtime). This gives a fairly accurate picture of your blood glucose levels over a short period of time.
Blood glucose measurements two hours after mealtime further improve monitoring of sugar levels and observance of guidelines; these levels should be checked at least once a week, or more often if your doctor so suggests.
