The GlucoAid Wheel

The GlucoAid Wheel consists of three wheels printed on both sides. The first wheel (wheel 1), or base, is stationary. Select the appropriate wheel (wheel 1, 2 or 3) for the desired food item, and, if necessary, insert it (wheel 2 and 3) onto the base. An indicator window displays the food item along with the following information: serving size (by volume (ml) or by count), weight in grams (g), caloric value (kcal) and carbohydrate content (g). There are 270 food items listed alphabetically by category for ease of reference.

By way of example, the GlucoAid Wheel shows that a 125 ml serving of “Apple Crisp” (weighing about 150g) contains 245 kcal and 50 g of carbohydrates. The red background indicates this item is an excessive source of carbohydrates, to be eaten in moderation, or avoided altogether.
